A Study on the Dementia Attitude and Depression of Residents in a Communit

Abstract
Objective : This study was conducted to identify the perception and understanding of dementia attitude and depression among residents in our community.

Method : Data was collected based on 88 residents who live in Busan with custom-made survey. The frequency of analysis was calculated using SPSS v24 software to identify the general characteristics of residents. Differences between dementia attitude and depression factors were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA.

Result : There were significant differences in awareness of the dementia attitude according to age and level of education. Depression was not significant factor in this study. The score of dementia attitude was 92.33 on a 7-point Likert scale and for depression was 3.67 on a 2-point scale.

Conclusion : This study was presented to exhibit the current status of residents¡¯ dementia attitude and depression. The results of the study suggest that more of evidences are necessary to improve the perception of the dementia attitude and depression among residents in our community.
